"Mirrors of Continuous Change"

Fré Ilgen is curator of "Mirrors of Continuous Change", a large international exhibition with artists from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, curated for Taekwang Industrial Co. Ltd. in Seoul, Korea.

Organization:
ILJU Academy &Culture Foundation
SEONHWA Art & Culture Foundation

Location:
Heungkuk Life Insurance Building, city-centre Seoul, Korea, (ROK)

Mission:
The corporate identity of the exhibition sponsor Taekwang Industrial Co. Ltd./Heungkuk Finance
Group is based on a spiritual vision similar to Taoism: that all perceivable phenomena and beings – including individual humans – are temporary clusters of energy immersed in complex and
continuous streams of other energies, and therefore each individual is unavoidably linked and in
continuous interaction with everything else. Everything contains Ch'i or Ki in continuous change.
Like swimming in the ocean, one has to think not only about their own movements and breathing,
but they must also understand they are part of the ocean as well. The mission of the exhibition is to bring awareness of this idea to visitors and employees of Taekwang Industrial Co.Ltd./Heungkuk Finance Group. Because these concepts reflect the very basics of life in the world as we know it, it is natural to find similar philosophies in many different cultures. Because of this - and because we now live in an era of globalism - the exhibition features idiosyncratic works created by artists from very different cultures and parts of the world.
